In a bid to take on mobile dating apps like Tinder and Bumble, Facebook has begun testing its dating project internally with employees. According to a report in The Verge on Friday, an independent app researcher Jane Manchun Wong found evidence of the dating feature testing and posted it on Twitter. This is not meant for dating your co-workers,” read a screenshot. Facebook has asked employees to use fake data for their dating profiles and plans to delete all data before the public launch, said the report.
The social media giant later confirmed the dating product is in testing within the main Facebook app but declined to comment further. Facebook had announced the dating product — which will not be a standalone dating app — during its F8 developer conference in the US in May. Your friends aren’t going to see your profile, and you’re only going to be suggested to people who are not your friends,” he added.

The Dating Project, a Film by Paulist Productions
Her philosophy class stoked a nationwide movement, and writer and producer Megan Harrington teamed up with Cronin and a group of five single people in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago to release a new documentary The Dating Project. The film was shown for one night on April 17 at various theaters across the nation and many theology, philosophy, and DWC professors at Providence College encouraged a number of students to go.
Ultimately, the film is about discovering what it is like to be a young person amidst our current culture, and discovering our own self-worth when pursuing relationships. The film shows snippets of her philosophy course, in which she teaches on the different levels of dating.
Applicants are sought for a fully-funded four-year Provost’s Project Award PhD doctoral award at Trinity College Dublin on the Big Dating.
It was shown in theaters nationwide April Professor Kerry Cronin of Boston College noticed a few years ago the decreased dating trend among her college students. The student had to pay and make the invitation in person as well as be alcohol- kissing- and sex-free, arranged within three days of asking a person out with a simple plan for the date and not have the other person decide what the date activity will be.
The film follows Cronin and five single people, ages 20 to 40, in their own pursuit to find true love and meaningful relationships. After the film was shown in theaters nationwide, young adults from the Diocese were asked their thoughts. To read what they had to say, click here.

Kerry Cronin, PhD, believes in dating. As a professor of philosophy at Boston College and a fellow at the Center for Student Formation, Cronin has met hundreds of students in her more than 20 years of teaching, counseling, and mentoring at the Jesuit university. It is a lost art that she is trying to reestablish by giving them a dating assignment. There is a deep irony in this story, however.
The Dating Project is a thought-provoking, award-winning documentary about the “hookup culture” that not only sparks conversation, but also encourages single.
Even though half of America is single, dating in this day and age has drastically changed over the last few decades. Dating sites have replaced physically meeting someone. The movie follows five single people ages as they navigate beyond the hookup culture to traditional dating. Professor Kerry Cronin from Boston College is featured throughout as she teaches and encourages her students to return to traditional dating. There is no script. There are no actors. These are real people trying to find love and happiness in an age of swiping left or right.
The Dating Project has the potential to create a tipping point, a shift, for single people everywhere that is far overdue. This documentary exposes the less-than-fulfilling hook-up lifestyle, one that is becoming more and more pervasive for singles in various stages of life. This film brings hope, energy and an alternative to hooking up and losing heart. It offers single people a purposeful, fun and practical alternative to hooking up—a date! But the date involves an intentional approach to getting to know someone who interests you.
My guess is that single people everywhere will benefit from The Dating Project, which provides a more fulfilling approach to engaging in deeper, more meaningful, and, perhaps, lifelong relationship.

By: Jason and Crystalina Evert. The Dating Project is a thought-provoking, award-winning documentary about the “hookup culture” that not only sparks.
For the first time in history, 50 percent of America is single. A staggering statistic, to be sure, but what does it mean? Kerry Cronin, a professor at Boston College University, teaches a class every semester designed to educate its students on dating. Their key assignment is to ask someone on a date. The date has to be in person, not involve physical contact, and last no longer than 90 minutes. The results of this assignment are not surprising.
The former, involved a dark room and no commitment, leaving the participants risk-free from getting hurt. The latter, however, meant letting down their walls and being vulnerable. Many were so busy, they were forced to choose online dating or apps just to meet people. Oftentimes, the people they met were just looking for sex or something casual, and many found it difficult to meet someone with similar values.

What happens when people meet potential romantic partners? What are the behavioral, perceptual and decision processes that determine whether two persons will feel attracted to each other and finally fall in love? And how do people differ in these processes? A total of heterosexual participants who were currently looking for a romantic partner were invited to one of 42 speed-dating events in our laboratory. At each speed-dating event, 5 female and 5 male participants had 3-minute videotaped speed-dates with each participant of the opposite sex, resulting in 25 speed-dates per event.
All speed-dates were audio- and videotaped and are currently systematically coded regarding a variety of general social behaviors and specific dating behaviors. In addition, physical cues were assessed based on standardized photographs. After each speed-date, participants filled in a post-date questionnaire about their respective dating partner, including several measures of romantic attraction towards the respective dating partner e.
